Description
Bed bugs are small flat bugs that look similar to a tick. They feed
on the blood of animals. Bed bugs have been around for thousands
of years. Just because they are called "bed" bugs does
not mean that they only are found in the mattress or box spring.
They will inhabit any area that is near to a food source. Unfortunately,
that food source is very often US!
Female bed bugs lay up to 5 eggs a day and can lay as many as
500 in a lifetime. The eggs are tiny and normally white. The bugs
can go from just hatched to full grown in about a month. The bugs
normally feed every 3-5 days but have been known to go up to about
1 year without feeding.
Bed bugs like the darkness. They normally feed at night but will
come out during the daytime if there are enough of them in one
area. The bugs do not fly but will crawl rapidly when agitated.
They like to stay near their "victim" but will also
travel as much as 100 feet to get to a meal.
