Scientific name: Pediculus capitis

What are they: Small parasitic insects that thrive on the human scalp by sucking blood.

How are they spread: Direct hair-to-hair contact, shared hairbrushes or combs, or hats.

Signs of head lice: Itching or scratching, visible upon close examination.
